hi everyone, newbie here to coin roll searching. I started out buying boxes for the copper pennies and wheatbacks and little did I know there was a whole hobby out there. a few searches on Bing and here I am. been reading the forums for a few weeks and decided to join so I could share some of my finds with everyone. the good thing about this hobby is the wife loves it too. thanks Jason

thanks everybody for the welcome. I have to tell this story. since I started doing penny roll searching my in-laws had a gas station in a small town and it had been open since the fifties and my wife's grandfather who was ahead of his time in holding money decided in 1981 when they changed from copper to zinc to hold the copper pennies telling my mother in law they would be worth something someday.flash to the present and my mother in law drags out a bank bag for me on thanksgiving and says these are yours.there must be 200 rolls of nothing but copper pennies and I have been having the time of my life with them.the rolls when there dumped out look like rolls from today except the shiny pennies you think are zinc are all shiney copper 1981's and 80's. so far I have found 6 wheat,5 s mint marks and one blank copper.i still have about 100 more rolls to go.will let you know what else I find.

sloanjr .... I don't know if you are searching for varieties, but that is a great opportunity to grab some early ones! if you're in to that sort of thing, you should check out coppercoins.com for the listing of many known varieties: doubled dies, RPMs, and alike! Good Luck!

I was wondering the same thing when I had gone through a bunch and never found any sloanjr but now that I found one...if you have a good eye you can definitely spot the difference once you have looked at a lot of them...but magnification does not hurt...if you dont have anything try your phone thats what I used when I first got into it

My wife called from work and said they had received a bunch of cent rolls marked 1920-1958, asked if I'd like them. SCORE! 56 solid rolls of wheats, straight date runs marked on every roll, solid roll of 1920, 1934, four rolls of '55's, etc, got my 8 y.o. interested in LMC's a few weeks ago, she will have a blast!
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

That's a no brainer. Doesn't your wife know you roll search? Does she work at a bank or some where else? Anyway......GREAT SCORE!

Nice find. It appears that someone has dumped their hoard.
