nice finds coindexter...the 62 still shows some nice luster. Found this one yesterday in a bank box. It's in pretty good shape for being 51 years old eh?

hey guys, I think I'm gonna start roll hunting as it seems addicting and exciting from the posts I see here so how many should I start off with to ask my bank teller? A box? or should I start with a few to gain a relationship of some sort with the bank haha

New to the forum and have spent the last few hours reading these posts. I have been searching rolls for several years now and my one regret was in not keeping bu zinc coins until last year. Prior to that I only kept the copper coins. Have not got a clue how many cam's and WAM's I have returned to circulation. Sigh..... Early in this thread the question was asked what was kept. I have several catagories of tubes for storage of coins I have pulled from bank rolls. The catagories are as follows and unless otherwise noted are both p and d mint marks in the tubes.... 1959 P and D (first year of memorial reverse). 1982 and before (copper) in circulated condition. 1982 zinc in au or better. 1970 s (any condition) 1968s, 1969s, 1971s, 1972s, 1973s and 1974s. These all go in the same roll but the 1970 s is not in this catagory for obvious reasons. Bu zinc Bu copper Wheat Canadian Exceptional coins are placed in 2 x 2 cardboard flips to protect them. I do not like any coin storage books as over time the coins will be damaged when placed in these books. This is true for both the cardboard garbage as well as the dansco books. Coins are an investment and it is sad to make such an investment (either financially at the coin store or in time at the bank) only to see it get tarnished/damaged over time due to poor protection while in storage. Over the years I have found numerous wheat pennies, probably a half dozen indian head pennies and lots of au and bu coins as well as the copper coins I stash. I look at it this way, in an absolute emergency I can always spend the coins for groceries etc. Call it a forced savings program that has numismatic appeal to me. Sincerely, John Leckrone

Vary nice finds. I love them 68-69 S-mints. Even tho I see lots of S-mints where I live finding a 68-S RED is a tough one. Hold on to that one.
