I've been finding a lot of nice pennies from the '60s lately. I got this one today. 1960 Quite nice for bouncing around out in the wild for 50+ years.  |

I found a 1968-S in terrific shape. It was beautiful and had a rich red luster, and since it is from circulation, I was able to upgrade the one I had for my circulation Lincoln set! I also found a 1940, 1944-D, 1951-D, 1955-D, 1957-D, 1958-D, Canadian 1982 and 1986. Not too bad, considering how I have been getting blanked lately.

Had my son make a trip to the grocery for me, asking if the bank in the store wasn't busy, would he please grab me some pennies with the change..(which amounted to roughly $5.00) so that's 10 rolls. I was impressed.. 29 37 41 53 55 58 65BU? 68BU? (Both in similar shape to the '60 above) 139/500 59-81 27.8% copper From what I've read in this forum, seems like a pretty good haul. I've also learned that when a teller doesn't want to take the time to give you pennies, it's best to ask for a withdrawal slip and to throw your bank card on the counter saying, "Then please empty this account if you will." She got Soooo nice after that!  |

I found a purty '58-D today. 1958-D  What do you fellas think? Is the "O" in "ONE" and "pluribus" Struck Through Grease, or is that just wear from circulation? There is a little chatter going on there even though the rest of the reverse looks relatively clean. |

Is it just me or is 90% of the pennies in a roll severely damaged?
Even the shiny 2009-2013's I get have a stain, scratch, gouge, etc.

1941-S...wow. Not a semi-key date, but definitely a hard to find date from the 1940s. I love hole fillers!

Did 50$ bag from coin counter. Yielded 37%copper. About a dozen wheats( I was shocked on so few with the amount of copper found).

Sorry, not an error, just a mildly weak strike. The O in one cent is the most common part of the design to be weak. Good find though! |

Opened one of 20 rolls I got from Wells Fargo Bank in Walmart the other day. I was floored when I saw that ALL are 1972P in BU condition.     Looking at the rest of the rolls, they look to have normal circulated coins on the ends.  UPDATE! I scanned the rest of the rolls I had and ended up with 155 1972P LMC's in BU. 36 1974D in BU and 22 1974S in BU. Somebody must have been really hard up to change these in, or maybe they had no idea what they were giving away. I can't wait to go through them.  Edited by rpmes

Pretty good box, above average wheat content for my area.

Hi all- New here, but I have ready every page of this thread (and the one for nickels). Lots of good finds!! I am only 3 months into the hobby and have done 40 boxes-- 15 of which were cents. 15 box totals: 309 Wheats and 268 Canadian (maybe 20 or so KG) 1904 IH (actually found on my third box!) 2x 1998 WAM1x 2000 WAM1x State counterstamp 1958D red uncirculated wheat 1936 Lamination error (haven't actually checked 90% of the wheats for errors) I have only checked the last 3 or 4 boxes for errors and found 2 die clashes and 30 cracks (10 are good, the rest not anything special), 1 broadstrike and 1 chip. I have 10-15 years that I set aside to go over for varieties and DD later, besides WAMs. '72, '83, 84, 88, 94, 97, 06... just to list some off the top of my head. Probably will start to go through some soon... I'll be sure to post updates! |
