Blue-m. Not terribly likely - I've only found 1 or 2 09's in 10's of thousands searched. You are really quite lucky to have found a pre-1940 in the 8 rolls you did search.

I find more wheats than 09's. Are the 09's worth more than face due to their rarity?

With my bluish green 1920-S, is that verdergris? If it is it must be a pretty extreme case of it. To be honest, it kind of gives it character in a way. I don't mind at all, a hole filler is a hole filler no matter what.
Even so, BadThad I was reading your Verdichem FAQ page and it sounds like my coin is too far gone to completely conserve. I have heard wonderful things about it on this forum though, I should try it for a milder case of verdegris.
Blue-M nice find on the 1919! That's really lucky for only $4.

So where are all the '09 Lincolns? I know they were minted in smaller quantities than most pennies but you would think you could find them a little more often. Have they been hoarded? Not put into circulation? Taken out of circulation? Anyone have any clues? Maybe they should be worth more than face if they are so hard to find. Opinions anyone?

I've had pretty good look with 09 pennies. I've only searched roughly a box, give or take a few rolls and have found 13 of them.

Well they were a little harder to find from the beginning but I'm sure they are being pulled out of circulation, I haven't searched since june but I was pulling about 20 per box

Okay to clear up a little confusion: 1909 Indian Head cent is extremely rare 1909 Wheat cent is very very rare 2009 Lincoln Cent with four different reverses: uncommon but not worth much. I usually pull 5-15 per box all end in '09 but a century apart

Yes - I finally realized that after retreading the post. I only keep the 2009s when they have errors.

how often do you find errors? I have just kept all of my 2009s and eventually search them for errors but from 18 boxes of cents, I've only found a total of about 300 of them. And what is the best website that shows the different varieties?

http://www.lincolncentresource.com/...09_DDRs.htmlOr Doubleddie.com You can ID which 2009 error you have. I started keeping 2009s Galway through the year. I searched 500 or so and got 2 for sure errors. There may have been another 1or 2 that were very minor varieties. I have yet to find a doubled due other than 2009, but I just started looking for those part time in the past few weeks. I also slowed down on pennies to concentrate on everything else. I have found probably 9 or so penny clips this year. Several blank planchets. Some Struck Through Grease. One really nice struck through a capped die https://goccf.com/t/158781Several MADs as well

I would soak it in some acetone to see if it comes off.
