Box #9 done:
5 Wheaties: 1942, 1945, 1948, 1952, 1955-D, pretty dirty, all G-VG, had to dip the 1955-D to see the date.
6 1968-1974S: No upgrades
6 2009s: 1 upgrade, no 2009P Presidency yet.

Finished up a box the other night. It was an odd 50/50 box of new 2014D rolls and mixed rolls, so it didn't yield much fun stuff: Wheaties: 54D, 56D Canadian: one crusty 74 EU: 03 Netherlands 2 Eurocents Other: one 95D with a cent-sized yellow sticker on the reverse that says "I ate at CHERRY CREEK CATFISH Austin TX".  |

I found a 1999 Wide AM tonight. They are getting extremely hard to find around here. This one is mostly brown but some red. Still Lookin |

1999 WAMs getting harder to find. That's an understatement. I've flipped at least 1500 1999 cents without a single one. Agrippa put a post out yesterday regarding origins of discovery for varieties. I suspect that if you are near a release point then a rare finding can occur. Else it's a remote event for anyone else.
Congrats on the find. I'm almost reluctant to ask how many you found to this point. It could hurt my feelings!

Rackster - I'm with you. I've gone through 10 boxes and have seen bucketloads of 1999 pennies, but not one WAM. The same goes for 1998's and 2000 WAM's. It seems like a waste of time to even look for them except it is so easy to do the examination, so I still look. |

In the 15 or so boxes I've done, I believe I have only ever found 1 '98-'00 WAM, and it was in pretty rough shape. Edited by CelticKnot

I am sure it would hurt your feelings. That was the 20th one. That was the first one this year and maybe on a couple last year. I still find several of the 98s and 2000s.

20!  It has to be where you live. I've read a couple times here that some members had multiple specimens for 1999, but I don't think if we added all theirs up it reaches 20. I've found 3 1998s and 3 2000s but that's it. And that seems reasonable relative to other scarce varieties I've collected. Indeed you are in a nice honey hole! |

I think that they did come out around here but I probably look through more change than most. I actually found another 2000 within the last hour. I have found over 2 rolls each of the 1998 and 2000.

I've found 10+ 1998 WAM's, 1 1999 WAM (AU details, corroded), and 10+ 2000 WAM's with the highest grading MS63 and another MS64. |
