Check the 1983 penny very closely on both the front and back for doubled die. There are a lot of different errors on the 1983 p. Sincerely, John Leckrone

Quote:Pulled this nice 1983 with a Cud. But the more interesting aspect is the missing portion of Lincoln's vest. Look at the gap underneath the bow tie (which is also missing the right side). Is this just Die Deterioration? Lucky! Lucky! All I see is a nice Cud, congrats.

I just found the most beautiful counterstamped AU Lincoln in the world! This is the third one of this type I've found in my friends coin stash....the others were red and nice, but not toned like this baby. My pictures SUCK compared to how this coin looks in hand. It's a beautiful, natural plumb and blue color on both sides. My camera just couldn't grab all the colors....this is best as I could do:

BadThad, that is a beautiful coin. I love the toning. I found this 60D a week ago or so. I've been studying up on clipped coins in Ken Potter's Educational Series, but I can't tell if this is real, faked or just damaged. Any thoughts? Matt

I think it's real because of the rim dent 180 degrees from the clip. The so-called Blakesly effect that is oft-discussed.

Just found a 1917 S Wheatie !!
Came home from work early and was finishing up a box of Cents from last night, before I start on halves and Nickels.
