Quote: Interesting coin....what is it? LOL It's a swiss coin. Going through a box of nickels a couple months ago, I had a 20 Helvitica coin sticking out the end of the roll, The reverse is just like this one except obviously with a 20 on it. Being new to collecting, I though I'd gotten a 20 cent piece until I flipped it over and couldn't read it. Fun find!

eaglefoot - Nothing special on the 1972. The 17-S looks to be VG or F, great find, worth about a $1.

I'll find a good error ONE OF THESE DAYS ! ....... And yeah, I thought that the 1919 I found a week or so back would be the oldest I'd ever find while roll searching......goes to show.....you never know what you'll find as long as ya keep at it ! ..

First time ever I found a whole roll of copper 1963-1980 they were all brown no keepers. Found it interesting that this roll had just laid around somewhere for 20 years.

Eaglefoot, what do you use for searching. I use a very good loop and a microscope. I have never counted but I would guess that I find one reasonably nice error every 3 boxes or so. Either a RPM, MAD, WAMs, strike thru or DD and recently a capped die. With my eyes, even with the loop, the subtle errors are not visible. That is why I sort the important dates out and check them under the scope later. A couple of examples are the 1960-D looking for RPMs and the 1972 for DDOs. Except for the 1972 die #1 I found a few months ago, I cannot see the doubling on any of the other die types. I will not tell how many I have found and probably never will because nobody would ever believe me. Suffice it to say, 2 more in the last month, both die #8. Without the scope, I would find very little. Just musing out loud, hope it might help. Jim

Jim....I have several good Loops and mags.....10x's, 8x's, and have an awsome light...all of that. .....but I must say....I'm guilty of not saving the dates to look through later....I look right then, and often just for something obvious, but I put it under magnification for dates with DDO's and don't really look for any Wide AM's or anything. Originally, just scoring Wheaties was my thing......and trying to "hurry" to get the money back in the bank too ! .. So.....I wonder how many "good ones" have come and gone right through my fingers ? ......sigh....I think once I find " one", though.....I would then really know what to look for and I'd start finding them. Kinda like morel mushroom huntin'.....once you see "one" in the wild...soon you start "seeing" more and more of them ! ... I "do" keep all small date 82's (and a pile of large dates too). As of right now, with "my" level of expertise, if it isn't a blatantly obvious "error".....it will escape me...
