welcome new members! I hope you have as much fun on the hunt as we do here :-) it can be awesome, frustrating, surprising, brutal, you just never know. good luck with your finds  I have been searching cents since mid 2013. My records since 2014 show that I have searched 207 boxes of cents. Whats the point here?  Well, this week, I found my 7th Indian Head cent! Thats 1 indian head per 29.571 boxes, or 1 indian for every 73929 cents searched  It was a 1903, and a hole filler for me (not that I really have an album of hunted Indian Head cents, but maybe someday  )   So, that means Ive found 7 different dates, maybe I should get a book! cents have always been fun for me. 1883 1888 1901 1903 1904 1907 1909 the more you look, the more you will find. good luck, |

Interesting data skibs. I've found around 15 since 1977. IHCs are a rare event, but you are right; volume will improve one's chances.

If you need to go though 74K of cents, then I should find my first Indian pretty soon!

Some of the potential errors I found. Please, if someone could give me an idea if I should keep these or not that would be greatly appreciated! The 2 1992's I believe are machine doubled.  |

Hi collectionmaster. I recommend you select a few of your favorite fun finds and post individual or paired pictures. Crop out the background as best you can. Folks here only need the coin. Looking at your collective shot you may have a few BU coins that you might want to keep. And if you variety hunt most any coin you look at has potential. Only a few years in the Lincoln series where there aren't any. Those rotting cents: spend those before they disappear. And have fun!

Looks like I have 2278 wheats in those 207 boxes. For an average of 11.004830917874396135265700483092 per box :-D

Last night, I took the time, as I do, to list all of my Wheat finds. This was during a storm....lol After a series of paragraphs, etc., I hit "post new reply" to post my recent pride finds...it then said "cannot connect to site"....lol...grr..  I had already dumped my wheats into my container with other Wheats...so...not happy the storm stole my thunder !   Anyway... I FOUND 17 WHEATS ! --  All dates were 1940-1958 I did find 4 Canadians -- And I found a 1971 Burmuda Pig Penny...lol BUT ALSO FOUND THIS  IT'S SILVER ! And a cool Australian coin ! 1938 George V1 Sixpence 92% silver ! Worth more than a silver War Nickel ! --(if it were proof, it'd be worth about $9,000.00 ! --lol)(only 450 made) Happens to be the same size as our Cent . I opened a roll, and it flopped right out waving at me and saying "G'Day Mate". Such an awesome surprise getting "silver" while searching cents...I'm floored. Edited by eaglefoot

Ok, got the few I think are errors.  1998: there is zinc showing, I think? 1973-D: the 3 isn't really showing. Grease error? 199?-D: The last two letters are hiding. Another grease error? 1964-D: very bumpy. Last die strike? 1965: Edge missing. Clipped planchet? 1973-D: Very glossy/shiny. Lamentation? 1991-D: Also rather bumpy. Last/Later die strike? 1983-D: lines across the obverse and reverse. Probably post-mint-damage. Also, the ones on the bottom in the previous pic are all slightly off-center. Probably just misaligned dies. |

CollectionMasterTry posting your potential error coins in the "error coin section", you'll get the focus on errors there...  And try just single pics of individual coins, obverse & reverse.

Can you get a shot of the obverse and reverse for the 1965? Use a blank sheet of paper or other solid backing? The reverse would should display the Blakesley Effect.

CollectionMaster - you have yourself a clipped planchet! Nice find! That will deserve being placed into a 2x2 flip. Note on the reverse, 180 degrees opposite the clip, the area by the rim is 'weak'. That's the Blakesley Effect. It'll get more pronounced on larger clip errors.

Finished a box... 1957-D 1951-D 1945-D And....a brockage coin ! --(posted on the error coin section as well)   This Lincoln is just a nice grade and going into a coin tube of BU LMC's. It's pictured side by side with a normal 1970-S.  Edited by eaglefoot
