I went back to the bank with the customer rolled cents today. The vault manager was out sick and her backup wasn't too enthusiastic about helping me. She said there was a stack of boxes set aside for me in the vault, (whine) did I really want all of them (whine)? I told her no, I'll take four now and come back and get the rest later (still don't know how many there are). Of course I had to do a quick search before heading back to work. Looked through 2 rolls from each box. Three of the boxes had mixed copper and zinc, like any ordinary Brinks box. Box #4 yielded 17 BU 1978D (roll 1) and 14 BU 1981 D (roll 2). This should be a fun weekend!

Cool-Lincoln-Roll-Finds-From-Bank-Rolls----Post-Yours!

The coin on the right was a gift. (thanks again Thad)

I found the one on the left tonight inside a $50 bag. I found a new supply of Lincolns! There's a small semi-independant bank in my town. It seems they take all of their customer wrapped coin and dump it into a coin machine to count and sort. The machine isn't available to the customers, it sits in a back room and is used by the merchant teller. It turns out that they've got 8 more $50 bags in the vault, and they've been sitting in there for quite awhile. I plan on cleaning them out 1 bag at a time.

Thanks for all you've done for me Mr.D'mint! I'm glad you found it. Looks like it's a little nicer than the one you found in that bag.

Congrats on scoring the bags! That's going to be a blast to go through.

I just went back through a lot of this thread from the beginning....it's actually turned into something really, really cool. I hope it peaks the interest of lots of collectors or even gets someone new into the hobby.

Thanks for contributions everyone!

If my memory serves me, this thread was one of the very first that I posted in. I've never met another collector that didn't check the reverse of each and every Lincoln Cent he/she handled...looking for wheatheads.

Thad, you're correct...the coin you gave me is MUCH better than the one I found. "pristine" is a word that comes to mind.

Jim, I've only been actively roll-searching for a little over a year now...on average, I probably search at least $50 per week. I've only found a total of 6 Indians so far...but I'm still looking!

Starman, the Indians are out there. Patience is a virtue.

I'm 1/2 way through this bag now. I've found quite a few keepers, and about twice the amount of copper that I normally find in bank boxes.

This was the hook that brought me into this forum. I found the thread and read it from start to finish. I became a member the next day. I always make sure I never miss a post. Thanx for keeping it going BadThad!

Its also one of the first threads I check. I searched my first rolls/boxes of cents just over a month ago.

I've had great success since.....and look at every coin I get.

BTW - I got a 1927 Wheatie in change yesterday at Crispers.
