Got my granddads coins recently and the man was obsessed with old pennies. Looking to get into the hobby and found some, what I thought, interesting coins.

First is:
1973 D Lincoln
Circulated
-Has what seems to be a thicker outer edge than any other penny I've ever seen.
Reverse seems to be normal, to me.

Sorry for bad pictures, still learning how to work them.

Have others I'd like help with in the near future, but one step at a time!

Just looking for outside thoughts/advise. This seems a great place to learn!

TIA!!

Your grandfather put aside certain coins for a reason, look very close at your coins.looks like there is a die crack above Lincolns head.

Looks like that area above the motto was affected by something like a counting machine or something mechanical. Whatever it was was altering that area pretty even. Not a mint error, but light damaged. Nothing during the strike process would cause that.
