panzaldi Bedrock of the Community United States 18689 Posts	Posted 11/25/2020 2:38 pm The 85(CC) should be sharp and bold in strike. this one is right there for strike. luster is broken on obverse. reverse looks pretty good for luster. obverse eye appeal is below average due to the discolorations. surface preservation is below average with more abrasions, marks and scratches on the obverse that I would want to see in a MS64 coin. overall I put it in the MS63 box and dont think it would go any higher than that especially if you went with PCGS Report this Post to the Staff
BigSilver Pillar of the Community United States 2843 Posts	Posted 11/25/2020 10:24 pm So, the ANACS grade is 64. I bought it for $600 with the hopes of flipping it for a profit. Interesting note. There were 2 1885 CC Morgan dollars in the display. This one and a mid-generation PCGS. Both were graded 64 and the dealer was asking the same price for both. The PCGS coin did not even hold a candle to this coin. It was scuffed up in so many places. I believe that I will send this in to PCGS possibly have them conserve it. If it comes back a 64, I will probably break even on the sale, a 65 I will make a $100 or so. I would rather not mention the other "if"s. I will definitely keep you updated on the grade when it is in. Report this Post to the Staff
