2020 P Salt River Bay Quarter: What Type Of Error Is This?

When the fingers slide the planchet in to be stuck they can sometimes scrape the face of the die and leave striations on the face of of the die. It can happen to the obverse as well as the reverse die faces. Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/26/2020 6:21 pm To me it looks like die scratches from a polishing. Keep in mind the die scratches flatten quickly on the open fields on the die, but the scratches inside an area keeps them from flattening as fast. Feeder Finger Damage is usually quite a bit deeper on a die. Sometimes even removing deeper design elements: This part of the design is not anywhere near as deep on this area on the reverse die. So I feel they are scratches like you would find on a bay of a cent, the remains after the outer open field die scratches are gone. Report this Post to the Staff
