You'll find that the 1951 halfpenny can also have a dot ... just depends where it was minted.

1951 plain halfpennies were all minted in Perth.
Coin in the pic looks like a Y. version.
They are all common in average grade.

yeh..the1951 halfpenny reverse dies were among the very first dies produced by the Perth Mint saff.

thaks for the insperation to follow up on it...and got this..

5 different 1951 proof halfpennies have been sighted at the auction over the past 4-5 decades.

of thoes 5 coins,only one of them was the ..no dot ...variety,
each of the others had the dot after the written denomination.

Some years the dot definitely moves from memory - some of the more specialised books document the different positions but I'm not sure that most people bother with the variation.
