I have a copper coin. Dated either 1796 or 1706. It is in rather poor condition, though much of the design is clear. It was listed as a colonial, usa coin, but I don't believe it is. The obverse has a man riding a horse, with some kind of serpent under it. There is some type of lettering on it, but I can not read it. The reverse shows a sailing ship, again with some kind of serpent under it. It seems this design is out of date with the date on the coin.
@WMM, first welcome to CCF. Second, that looks like St. George thrusting at the serpent and then a Man-of-War and salmon on the reverse. To me, it looks a lot like a Conder Half Penny Token from the UK. I don't know the extent to which these might have circulated in the British Colonies, but clearly it got plenty of use somewhere.
