This coin is 21mm in diameter an weighs 12.58g. It appears to be a Seleucid coin of some sort, but other than that I'm not sure at all. Please let me know if you guys have an idea about what this specifically is.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ is at the right, if you can see any tracks at the left of the word ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ that's him

On the left side of the reverse I am able to make out "TPIOY" at the end. The letters before that are too far off flan to distinguish

Looks like the coin may have been lacquered hence the dark black color. A soak in acetone should clean it off.

@twood, can you clarify if the coin is silver with a layer of heavy varnish or rather bronze?

We were typing at the same time. I'm interested to see what this coin looks like after its bath.

Here is what the coin looks like after the acetone bath. It definitely took some residue off, especially on the edge. There was originally some tan gunk on the edge, gone now.

But its still just a bronze...

I paid $6.36 for it as part of a lot of poorly pictured Roman coins on ebay (this was the only Non-Roman one)

I cannot find any bronze examples of my coin online. It seems like the eagle reverse was only used for the silver coins, but not the bronze ones.

Do you guys think my coin is forged, or something else weird like that?

If the cleaning is revealing bronze underneath, then that's a problem. There are fakes of these in bronze.

Oh, yikes. Then I'm guessing this is a fake. And it wouldnt be a contemporary forgery, right?

Yep, looks the same. I'll attribute this as a fake then. Thanks for the help on this one.

I would also suspect a fake that was disguised with the lacquer to cover it up.
