Personally, I would never buy a coin like this raw.

Let me put it to you this way. Do you really want this? It's been cleaned and has a stain. A solid AG-03 is only $40 more. You'll get a lot more meat.

I'd agree with GC. I'd personally pass, save up a bit more and get a better example, these lack the eye appeal, for me, in sub G grades.

A collector's uncertainty on a coin purchase often translates to a "should've passed" regret.

IMHO, the price on this coin is reasonable but not a bargain. Personally, I'd look for a solid G-6 or better. Over time, a coin in that grade will be a more welcomed piece to revisit, and it'll be an easier coin to flip when the time comes.

with all of the above. Why buy that one only to be disappointed and upgrade? Smart on your part for asking here first.

I think the main question is: "Do I Really Like This Coin?"
If the answer is "no" or "nothing so sure", then pass. There are tons of other Draped Bust quarters out there that have better eye appeal and fall in the same price range (if that is what your budget allows, otherwise trade up).

Below-average eye appeal, especially the reverse. Easy to buy, tough to re-sell.

For the grade, appearance and variety, it's worth that. DBQ's that look like this are bringing 200 easily. No Bad Marks!
