As Princetane said, not much to show from NZ this year.
Not the best examples, but this is all I have...

Lastly, the Centenary of Canberra 20c. Don't see too many of these either.

Triggersmob - love the Slim Dusty dollar - I've never seen one of those. He composed one of the saddest songs of all time - "A Pub With No Beer"...

You're not wrong there mate. I remember listening to that on Mum and Dad's old record player when I was a kid back in the U.K.

Being younger than you guys - can't say I am that nuts about it. I was subjected to excessive amounts of country music by my bumpkin parents and now listen to mostly dance and pop by a lot of people like Prince and Michael Jackson.

My generation is more Icehouse, INXS, Hunters and Collectors if you get what I mean! Not that crazy about metal and hard rock though - but the best of the Aussie Kiwi bands is definitely Split Enz (Which apart from Paul Hester who joined in late 1983, was an exclusively Kiwi band - Okay Crowded House was more Australian with Hester and Seymour, but the leader and most talented member Neil Finn was KIWI).

Great coins from you guys - Steve really nice Coronation coin and the holey dollar coin thing and the Kiwi stuff.

Numis Rob you have a nice collection of later 50 cent coins that will complement my earlier ones coming up.

Welcome to 2012 the year of a famous Australian $2 coin.

Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition

Besides the usual $2 coin, they decided to start issuing commemorative $2 coins to complement the numerous commem 20c, 50c and $1 coins alongside all the NCLT, Bullion and other tat.

They decided to use a WW1 Anzac poppy and the Remembrance theme as WW1 centenary celebrations were coming up. The coins came into two finishes, a standard uncoloured one with 5 million minted and the scarce one with a red poppy in which just 500k were minted (¼ the usual commem $2 coloured ring coin). Even more scarce is the coins released in packs with C privy mintmarks on the outside poppies.

The coin also had words from the last call inscribed on the inside. The coin became an instant classic and is now one of the most collectable of all the $2 coin series. I am very lucky to have got one (Not cheap mind you). But a key coin here.

This was the first year of commem $2 coins and the next year saw the issuing of colour rings as part of the design, here the poppy leaves are coloured red and the coin is striking.

2012 in New Zealand was very sparse, in fact equal with 2007 for the most sparse year in circulation coins.

Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition

The only coin was a desultory 10 cent coin, Kiwis seemed to be going faster than ever through them than the other denominations.

My Australian circulation coins for 2012 are not much better.

I have the 5c, 10c and 20c, but at least all 3 are basically UNC.

Expect a few less fireworks until we reach the mid 2000s.

My attempt to buy a lot of NZ proof sets and dollars from this era at an auction failed badly due to group of dealers in the room with bottomless pockets. I did get some items though.

The only coin I have from NZ this year is the 10 Cents.
Not that flash either I might add.
Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition

From Aus I have the coloured $2 coin, with C mint mark.
I believe these are going crazy price wise at the moment.

Also the wheat sheaf dollar.
Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition

and I'll throw in a standard 50c coin.

2011 was another sparse year, but I have a treat for you

The standard circulation coins included 10 cents and $2 for that year. 2011 was a bad year for New Zealand, with the Christchurch death toll of 182 from the earthquakes and uselss minister Gerry Brownlee turning down aid and then changing his mind just as the Japanese earthquake happened.

Then I remembered I have these uncirculated sets from the era

Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition
2011 set of uncirculated coins and $5 Maui's Dolphin coin.

These sets I bought from the boutique arm of REAL Aotearoa in 2012, they cost $70 each but the coins were made out of different metals from circulation.

The $1 and $2 are brass and the cents coins are Cupro nickel and bronze.

Breaking my own rules, the 2012 set included the same line up as 2011 but with an Fairy Tern $5 coin

Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition

Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition
Proof of the 3 sets being from the stated years, the last one is 2010.

Between 2009 and 2010 the price went up from $50 ($49.95) to $70 a set and in 2013 to make it more expensive they greedily stopped the $5 coin and set together making them separate with a $5 coin for $60 and set of 5 currency coins and additional $80. This concept lasted 2013 and 2014 only and the currency sets stopped to now only being an annual $5 coin. The Proof sets did the same thing and the last proof coins sets ended in 2016.

Since 2017, only loose $5 coins have been sold in annual sets.

In Aus, it was like the year of the Ram. Many different version of this coin were available with different mint and privy marks. This one is P for Perth of course.

We definitely are mate, I just remembered those beautiful Uncirculated sets and now we are in the era of me having more stuff.

You will be pleased to know you have all the circulation coins for 2011 in NZ. Those sets include all the coins and many are set only pieces, the 20c, 50c and $1 are only set coins in 2011.

I love the volunteers 20 cent coin and ram dollar - very nice.

A desultory 5 cent coin, even the $2 coin dated 2011 is scarce with a low mintage of like 1.8 million.

The Kiwi 10 cents is there to stop it being lonely
