Two 1917-D Mercury Dimes - Cleaned Or Legit Orginal?

one_fine_dime Pillar of the Community United States 591 Posts	Posted 12/03/2020 7:49 pm I was thinking maybe these two specimens are cleaned, but I'm just not sure...maybe dipped and re-toned? What do you all think, would they likely straight grade with a TPG? Grade-wise they look pretty decent...wear seems minimal and surfaces clean, though not much luster as far as I can tell. I think the second one was cleaned, especially on the obverse. The darkness of the cap and right in front of the hair doesn't look it was done very well. Still both are very desirable coins.
