Hi, I'm new to the forum so first let me say hi to all. I just picked up coin collecting a couple of months ago and have gotten into the practice of getting coins from the bank to sort through. Today I was rechecking some of the coins I have set aside and came across a 1983-P Lincoln that looks like the eyes, forehead, and nose are tripled? is that possible? Also the chin and top of the beard look like they are doubled too. But the thing is that on the reverse it looks like what coppercoins.com describes as a 1983P-1DR-002. Like I said I am new to all this so I don't want to jump the gun but I think I already did . I'll try to take some good pictures and post them if possible, thanks for any help, and once again a hearty hello.

Seventh1, the obverse is most likely die chatter. This happens when the coin jumps as the pressure is being released striking the die again leaving a partial second impression. Very common. As to the reverse, pictures just not clear enough to make a call.

cool thanks for the information, I'm really getting into change sorting and stuff so I really want to beef up on my meager amount of knowledge about coins and coin errors/varities. I'm sure I'll bug the forum for more information and thank you very much.

Seventh1 There is a lot of info here and as long as you have a scanner or a nice camera you will have all or most your questions answered here. Quality pics are a must for coin detail.

From appearances the obverse is Machine Doubling and the reverse is just a very worn die.
