Hello again,

My dad passed away last month as I mentioned in a Morgan post. I believe a lot of the coins I'm finding are from my grandfather who passed away in 96 at the age of 94. I've so far found a 1921 Morgan, 1911 barber and this Kennedy.

Apologize for poor pics, only have a scanner ATM (lost some coin equip in a move). This along with others have been in a box for I'd say 40+ yrs.

Did a quick search, haven't found a lot on this year/mint as far as DDs go. What does everyone think?

Look for doubling in this area.

Well first off, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your father passing away. Best wishes for you and your family.

Second, to me I'm not seeing any doubling. Looks like a normal Kennedy, but still, it's 40% silver.

Looks like the dies that stuck your coin had been polished a lot. Not how the devices are all smaller than normal on both sides of the coin. Note the fields? How flat they are? So your coin was one of the first ones struck after the die polishing. But if it were a doubled die, the devices would probably be a hard thing to find as a doubled die because the height of the devices are shorter. But as mentioned there is melt value for your coin.

Hey all,

Thank you for your condolences. Oh no not going to sell, I will probably have these coins slabbed and displayed due to where they came from.

Once I get a my microscope/camera in the mail I'll take a look. Shot I can get is pretty poor ATM.

To me slabbing coins is a waste of money. (Unless they are worth over $200) I know I pay nothing over face value for a slabbed coin. So that expense is worth nothing extra to me.

That last picture doesn't help much Kulman47. Actually, it doesn't help at all. Beside that, your coin is to damaged/circulated to consider it for submission.
