I've been motivated today. LOL I retook pics of my 1909 and thought I'd toss them out here. Another coin that looks much better in hand. In fact, it's very proof-like. Check out the sand-blasted die look of the fields:

The fields look as smooh as a baby's bottom! Not many flaws at all. MS65 be my guess only because of the nic above eye and nic on the E on reverse.

The only problem that I see is the ding above the eye and on the reverse the ding to the O of ONE and to the E of CENT. To me the strike is full and above average. I would still give it MS65.

Great looking coin. I think this should grade MS-64.

ms64-65, agree with the others. You know them 09's were struck with fresh dies and there are a lot of well struck ones out there.

I've always had mixed grading feelings about this coin. Here's why:
Obverse - There's 4 fairly deep hits, 1 on the shoulder, 2 above the eye and one right on the cheek. The cheek is also slightly flattened.
Reverse - Obviously, there's some hits to ONE CENT, those are actually minor on a point scale (field hits count more) and there's really only one minor field hit above the N. This coin has incredible wheat grains, they stand out very high and strong and possess superior detail.
In hand, this coin will make you say WOW. The matte, sandblasted fields on both sides and the fairly square rims make it very proof-like. It has very strong eye appeal.
I've always felt a TGP would likely assign MS-64 to it due to the hits, but I give it an MS-65 because it's so nice in hand.
Good job people!

Thou I am no expert to say the least - MS-65 Great looking coin - I can see why it looks better in hand. The angled photo does no justice. It's a KEEPER!

What color is that thing? It looks San Fran brass! Until recently when the TPG really cracked down on all Lincolns, I'd say it had a shot at MS66. Today it'd be fortunate to get MS65. My personal opinion is MS65YE (Yellow!)

It is! It's very, very brassy in color. That's another factor that makes this P issue odd. Good eye!
