Heather, Yes, this is
PMD. The next goal is to teach you how to identify
PMD yourself rather than to guess at it. The easiest way to imagine how the post mint damage (keyword: Damage) occurred. Your cent looks as if it was dropped on the ground and was kicked around for a bit. Damage is various sizes and styles, dents and marks. There is not a process at the mint that would produce this damage. I suggest you watch a video of how coins are made to acquaint yourself with the process.
For Doubled Die coins, I suggest you look at as many doubled die coins as you can to become familiar with them. Search on the tern in the search box at the top of every CCF page (the first few are ads, but then you'll get into older posting that will help you identify doubled die coins. Spend some time looking and you'll learn what features to observe.
