At the time I am posting this topic 13 of the first 14 topics listed were to discuss Lincolns. Has there ever been a thought of having an area dedicated to a single coin?

I guess its the most common coin for people to collect. Besides its almost 2009 and people have gone crazy over Lincolns, I myself included :)

I've been picking up Lincolns here and there, saving anything I find roll hunting. Just this past weekend I started going thru everything and seeing what I got. Great, another set to work on.

I am fairly new this forum and definitely not an authority, but I thought Modern US Coin topic was only for Lincoln Cents. Are there other coins?

I'm with Thad..More Lincoln threads the better, but seriously, if you have a concern ask a mod.

There's no need for a dedicated Lincoln forum - you guys have pretty much already taken over this one.

Lincolns?

Gee I thought that the mint stopped making coins when the Barber series stopped.

I have another penny question for you experts. In my metal detecting, I dig up a lot of pennies, mostly Mem's. How clean do you want them? The clay/dirt we have here in Colorado is quite sticky.

Typical rule is never clean. But to remove loose debris, I would consider distilled water and some agree and disagree on olive oil. Both are non abrasive, but both do take time, so be patient.

I've also seen Lincoln Cent threads posted on the "Classic Coin" page so go figure.

For a ground find I'd just wash them over the sink with your fingers. No need to pamper with distilled water. DO NOT SOAK THEM IN COKE OR USE ANY CLEANERS on them. DO NOT RUB them with a cloth or anything. If the sink trick doesn't do a good enough job, soak them in some xylene. That's about as far as you can go without ruining them (from a collectors standpoint).
