As a side collection to my 16-18th Century Taler focus, I am building my 2nd, higher grade, set of Palestine (British Mandate) coins. There are 59 coins in total with various mintages circulated during the British rule of Palestine, prior to Israel's statehood.

Popularity is relatively limited among collectors, yet this is a set I collected with my late father and I have a strong sentiment for.

I purchased these on ebay from a very professional and efficient seller (who if I am not mistaken is a member of the community - leprecoin).

I really like collections from somewhat smaller places. This is gong to be a tough set to complete, especially in the higher grades. Coins of Palestine must have a broader following than many countries because the coins are not terribly scarce (based on mintages), but priced fairly high. Is there a reason for scarcity of Palestinian coins not reflected in mintages? Were a lot destroyed?

I believe that many were melted as the Brits vacated the territory. The mintages range between 500,000-10,000,000 per coin/date yet fewer survived in good condition.

I sometimes find these, but never in these grades.
Beautiful examples and interesting history!
