Congrads! Nice coin too. I must admit that I am not aware of the symbolism of the scimitar on which the lion is standing. Does anyone know what the significance of this is?

Yes, there was a discussion about this in the Russian coin forum which apparently seems to be stamping on the previous ruler of Finland, which happened to be Russia. (LOL)

Now that would be interesting, if the reference were so immediate and direct.
However, I believe the Finnish coat of arms originate in the 1500s, under Sweden's rule,

Finland-1-Markka
Finland coat of arms during the time of Gustavus I Vasa, from his tomb c.1570-80

So in reality, the lion trampling the Russian sabre represents Sweden, who fought numerous wars with Russia, often involving Finnish soil.
Just a few things I know, which perhaps can be better elaborated by a collector living in Finland, such as Eurocoins.

But it's safe to say that the sabre underneath the lion represents Russia. By the way, the current cent coins (six denominations) have that lion too ...

Right--Finland has never had the population to fight Russia, although they were remarkable in resisting Stalin's army on the Karelian isthmus during the winter war of 1939-40. They earned that coat of arms.
