I have a 1945s Wheat penny with what I think is a defect.
on the reverse the "O" in "ONE" appears to not be complete
almost like it was broke when they stamped it? I'm very new to coin collecting and would just like some opinions on if it is a defect or damaged. This is the only image I have right now I'm using my phone to take pictures and having trouble getting them small enough to uploading without cropping everything out.

@rahz, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes uploading pics to this site takes a little bit of practice, although the tutorial helps. Finally, I see what you are talking about with the letter O in ONE; however, that looks to me more like a well-placed hit from circulation. It is a little more clear when you blow up just that letter:

I agree with Spence and frog above, what you have is a coin that the reverse took a good hit on the O in one from circulation.. Interesting to learn, but in the end it's just post mint damage ( PMD).

to the CCF!

Hey awesome thanks for all the reply's! Still trying to learn how to tell the difference between what a mint defect would / could look like and a post mint would look like. Hoping to get a coin scope soon, tricky using phones zoom when anything past 7x gets blurry.

Scopes are nice, but they are tricky to use for photographs. Many here use their microscopes for locating errors, but cameras in phones for photos. Photograph your coins while laying them on a hard, flat surface, and hold your camera directly overhead. Try using daylight as your lighting source, or some other diffused single light source. The best advice to give you is for you to practice, practice practice. There is a large section here within the pages of CCF dealing with coin photography, if you're interested.
