So, I'm back with another one. This seems to be decent.

EF/AU sharpness, but a details coin due to ED. Not worth much much more than bullion value.

with the grade.

While this coin technically grades on the high end of the circulated scale, I think that the eye appeal is poor. Even if you tried to clean it (which I don't recommend), I don't think the unsightly black spots would come off (they look like tar).

Very attractive AU Walking Liberty half dollars are abundantly available for under $30. I would not buy this coin, even at melt value.

Agree , just worth melt or $1 more . If you want to mess with it ,first give it an acetone soak then a couple of dips in Silver dip . It will still be worth the same as melt but you'll have a nice clean coin . Don't get me wrong , I am not condoning the use of silver dip but in this case you'll have nothing to loose .

Welcome, Fiream.

If you're just getting into coin collecting, I hope you enjoy the hobby for many years.

I've been collecting coins for about 36 years. One thing I've learned to always ask myself when considering any coin purchase is; will I still enjoy looking at this coin years from now? If the answer isn't "absolutely," I move on and look for something nicer.

If you're paying near melt value for your coins, and you just want decent looking silver discs, then these may remain satisfactory to you in the future. If not, I would recommend putting more forethought into your acquisitions.

You have plenty of time.

I know some will say don't waste your time but what the Heck? Give it a soak in some acetone - maybe the black spotting will come off - maybe it won't - won't hurt to try.

Thanks everyone! I have amassed this collection over the years. Most of these I've found while working in retail or they were given to me over the years. I really need to weed out the collection...

Fiream , That's a nice little cache of coins you have but the first thing I see that should be addressed is your way of storing them . The coins need to be holdered , and any notes should be put into plastic currency sleeves . This protects them from getting hits, scratches and dirty . Have fun collecting !

with Rothery. Acetone will not hurt. I would submerge the half in a small bowl of acetone. Submerge two Q-Tips in the acetone as well and get them saturated. Gently (I mean GENTLY, very GENTLY) rub or wipe the Q-Tips across the surface of the coin. My guess is most of that black gunk will come off.

If you do it, let's see the after pictures.
