It's hard to see in this poor photo--but PCGS called it AU(53). Is it worth sending in for "conservation?" as was suggested?

Nice example!

I personally would be hesitant on conservation, due to the fact that it's EAC. No guaranty what will be to conserve the coin will keep it from going into a Details slab.

@Adam590, you said you disagreed with the grade, what do you feel it should have gotten? Curious.

I thought it was an AU(55). The details seem quite strong to me. I like the coin and think it is a strong example for its type.

Beautiful coin!

I'd leave it as is. Any bourse floor discussion would be upward from the assigned grade. I'm not a big fan of CAC, but that might be the better way to go. There wouldn't be any real downside to submission. The reverse crud likely can't be conserved, and the risk of detailing the coin by conservation has already been noted.
