I've been seeing this more and more and I have no idea what's going on here.


Can-Somebody-Help-Me-Identify-This-On-Memorial-Back-Cents?

There's this doubled look above some of the lettering on the reverse of memorial back cents & it's kind of annoying when I'm trying to find legit doubling. What even is this?

Not an error. It's called Split Plate Doubling and adds no extra value.

Split copper plating, no added value. Some think it is a type of MD that causes the copper plating to split.

with all of the above. Not a mint error. The next stage is zinc rot which will eventually destroy the coin.
