Considering sending this one in to ANAC'S on the 10 for $119.00 deal. Any thoughts of it worthiness or likelihood of a "details scratched" grade? Thanks for your opinions in advance.

I don't know, it might be an acceptable scratch. I'm at G-4. It's still a nice classic coin!

I'll say G-06 straight, but the scratch will always be a detraction to a potential owner, so I'd only buy it at a discount.

Does anyone know if ANAC'S will attribute this variety?

Yes I agree, but this ones a little more desirable than most low grade 1896 S examples I have been rifling through, my hopes would be ANAC'S would give it a pass? Note the coins mintmark positioning - it's a peach.

I'd say G-4. Think G-6 is a little to optimistic but possible I guess. As far as if the scratch will produce a details grade I don't have enough experience to make that call.

G-04. I think it will straight grade. A scratch like that isn't unusual for a heavily circulated coin, it isn't deep or fresh, and it doesn't look like deliberate graffiti.
ANACS certifies just about any recognized variety. The centered mm variety is pretty well known, so I would be surprised if they don't certify it. The last time I checked, they charged +$9 to verify a variety and +$12 to research a variety. I don't know that the mm location brings any premium, though.

Excellent opinions all and thank you. I called it a G4+ a smidgen below G6 so was able to buy at discount. Its in a PCI holder as G6 - PCI the Coin World equivalent to outlaw country music!

I'm at G-04, too much rim detail for a P-03 but too "smooth" for a G-06

Upon further inspection I want to change my call to G-04 instead of AG-03 . But I'll be dar-gone if that coin is a G-06 .

The PCI grading department thought it was...wonder if it would crossover? I have been buying all kinds of misfits with my 2nd electronic deposit check from uncle sugar. Fiat money nothing but a 24 digit sequenced numbers code with forward slashes and 2 spaces yet being it shows up and the ATM spits out bills. Where was the free money during the late 1970's when I needed it 10× worse?
