Looks like a really nice S-232. The obverse looks right on the VF-30/VF-35 line. The reverse looks solid at VF-35. There is some chatter in the fields, and the surface scratch at the nose is a bit distracting, but this looks like a straight grade. On balance, I see this as VF-30, but VF-35 would not surprise me a bit.
Very nice coin!

I think this one just makes VF-35 as well, certainly no lower than 30.

to me it looks like the obverse strike pressure was not even. the top right half of the coin was weaker resulting in the some flatness especially at the hair/brow line and flatness of the cheek so some of what we are seeing is strike related imo. I like the color of the coin and the variety is interesting. the overall sharpness of the coin imo is between VF35 and XF40. I'm going with most of the others at VF35 but a nice example.

Gee - I would give this one a straight XF40

I'm at EF40 also...I see enough detail in the hair and drapery.

I'm at VF-35, but 40 would not surprise. What a beautiful example!

The coin is for sale. The seller claims that the coin is under graded and near AU condition. CCF confirmed the grade that I had the coin at between VF and XF. I really like the coin and have been considering making an offer.
I am on the fence about doing a date set of the large cents from 1796 to 1814 in the VF range. The 1799 in VG and 1804 in F are expensive and extremely hard dates to get quality coins.
I currently have a 1805 large cent in VF30 and a 1812 large cent in AU50.

Very nice chocolate brown. If the seller wants AU money, it's gonna be $$$$$. For my type set, I am looking at VF30 Large Cents. Even at that grade it will be around $1,000 per coin for the Draped Bust and Classic Head.
