Just to show how fast the post office is these days, this cherrypick arrived today in the mail. I picked it on December 13 and the seller mailed it the next day. Collecting varieties requires patience, but it is getting ridiculous how long it is taking for some of these coins to arrive. This isn't even the longest wait as two more are longer than this one and still not here. The coin is pretty harshly cleaned on the obverse, and while that wasn't in the seller's description it was obvious from the photos. Even so, I figured a VF details was worth a bid and got it for $30. 1911-S/S Lincoln Wheat cent RPM-001, FS-501 Stage-D

Nice pickup! Shame about the cleaning but a very nice variety nonetheless. I hear exactly what your talking about with the shipping. I ordered a coin that hasn't arrived yet and I picked it on the 14th, shipped out the next day.

Sweet. Cleaned or not, still a nice variety with good devices. To bad they touched up the fields.

Nice coin and variety for $30. Still looks to have some grime around the edges.
You've probably heard this before but, try carrying the coin in your pocket with some other change for a few weeks and, at the least, it will be slightly less noticeable.
Good news, bad news about the mail. Bad that the wait is so long but, promising to hear because I still have a package of undelivered goodies that was mailed on 12/15.

Nice pick up..it doesn't look harshly cleaned...maybe some retaining would help...I've left coppers on the window sill for a period of time to retain or kept them close to my body for a period of time.

It's an illusion. By taking the photo with the light from above most of the scratches disappear as they are N-S oriented. I didn't think the cleaning would be the topic so used a pic showing the coin in its nicest light. Here is what the surface of the coin looks like if you try and show the cleaning.

I am amazed at the earliest years of the Lincoln Cent. To me they are virtually works of art. Worn, cleaned or not from 1909 to 1919 are my favorite years. Great cent and a tough one to locate!
