I got this unopened mint set the other day and one of the cent coins has Cud along the Y, and shoulder. There's also one in-between President Abraham Lincoln's nose and the outside rim of coin. This 2009 D cent is unique because it's 95% copper with satin finish. Because of the satin finish the Cud is the only thing that's shiny. It's still in the mint plastic so it's tough to picture. What do you guys think? Should I send it in to get graded and put in a protective holder?

I don't think it's a Cud. Cuds are on the rims of coins. I think it's a struck thur. EDIT: Take it out of the mint set case and get better pictures.

If the areas are raised, it would be some sort of die damage. Kind of interesting to find it on a specially produced coin.

I'm leaning towards the few others in saying a die chip. Look how it appears on the shoulder, in line with that above the Y. Add the fact that it is raised.

100% NOT a die chip. Appears incuse and its shape and location is not typical of die breaks. And I'm not too sure about strike through either, I don't see how a strike through would just stop between the Y and the collar.
Leaning towards this being some sort of mint damage. Seems like higher relief areas are more heavily affected. And it looks like there is similar marks on the rim in the last photo.

Looks to me like a scrape. I think it is PSD.

it could be a strike through a broken fragment, better photos will be required, to be sure.

Somehow got damaged before being put in the plastic. Look at the right side of the cent, also has a ding in the field and the rim is damaged. Would like to see a picture of the whole set......The Denver mints sets I've seen have the red backing board. Or is it some kind of Lincoln Cent set?
