What is the best book/website/anything that tells the most current and accurate values on graded 1908 specimens? Having a hard time researching values. I don't want to overpay so I'm willing to buy any material that will help me.

Thank you.

I look at ebay sold listings, online auction houses sales, or the CoinsandCanada website for sold at auction prices.

There is no finer book/bible on the subject than Rob Turner's new book (Past and Nearly Perfect". It is the infinite reference on the Pattern, Trial, Proof, and Specimen Large Cents of Canada. It is available only through the RCNA. Send them an email. It's $44.95 Cdn for RCNA members and $49.95 for other folks. It will certainly cover your 1908's, but don't think that you will get any "values" there. It is an EXCELLENT reference, not a price guide.

Agreed with @johnnysprawl that the ebay sold listings are quite useful for tracking price. You can also look up past sales on the Heritage and Geoffrey Bell Auction sites. I try to get as much information as possible for any major purchase. Also, the comparison is quite interesting - there's actually a fair range in prices for many coins and I would say that the further up the food chain you go, the greater the range gets. There's no single reason for this but the biggies seem to be who is shopping for something at the moment that comes up for sale and whether they have any $$ to spare at that particular time.

Are you talking about the 1908 specimen set that's being sold by j and m coins? It is selling for $4,250 which in my opinion is a bit overpriced.

Silver Nickel,
just try and find one! I owned a set (ICCS 64 and 65) including the purple box and sold it a long time ago for close to 5K in a private sale.
as I said: just find one!

47P7 yeah I guess your right. If you really want to find good coins you need to look elsewhere that the internet. Asking some LCS is probably the best way to go.

IMO,
unless you can buy a complete set, just start to buy the individual coins.
