To me, the pictures are inconclusive.

I paid a bit over $9.00 for it. It's not a coin I need for my collection if it's a business strike, but it is nicer than the one I have. I have to decide if I want to try to cancel purchase or just keep. Any opinions of the grade?

Hmmmmm, I don't know. Is the seller a coin collector or a random seller? Coinfrog could be right but I think it still looks like a business strike. I don't (maybe others do) see many proofs with that type of toning.

I'm pretty sure a 1952 proof Quarter would be valued at a lot more than $9 . Can you post the link here so we can all make a better evaluation of this coin ? I think coinfrog made the best call on this .

Here's the link: 193831185116As far as the toning, it may look a lot different in hand - especially if it really is a proof. I hope others chime in.

If you bought that 52 proof for $9.00, the guy that sold it isn't a coin collector that's for sure!

Quote: If you bought that 52 proof for $9.00, the guy that sold it isn't a coin collector that's for sure! I'm always on the hunt for good deals, but sometimes outsmart myself. I have some later-dated Washington proofs, which I know are not worth as much as a 1952.

Fields look too "grainy" to be a proof - even if it was impaired. Tough call - but if proof then 9 bucks was a pretty good buy
