Hello everyone, I recently dug up an old coin set that basically remained hidden in bins or closets or 25+ years and there are a few that appear flawless.. I know that is impossible and this has only 1 scratch but beautiful toning. Would this be something I should consider getting graded?

Why would you spend 30 Dollars or so all in to grade a coin that at best is a Dollar retail?

I did not say I was having anything graded.. I am a newb, green around the ears.. the the very reason I had asked .. if I knew it's value then I would not be wasting the energy making posts. For a coin worth just a buck. Do all rookies get trolled?

No one was trolling you , it was a perfectly valid question . Sorry if you feel hurt ! Here is a suggestion for you as well . It is a perfectly valid one too. Buy yourself a copy of the Red Book and then read it from cover to cover . This will certainly help expand your knowledge of US coins . You can usually find a copy that is a couple of years old for 5 to 8 dollars .

Thank you.. I am just trying to survive and pay rent.. I realize I am grasping at straws and using inadequate equipment at the moment.. I see that the lack of full steps answered my own question... I do have a few minted in the last 20 years that appear to have full steps.. being new to forums in general I do not know what to post and what not to.
Thank you for the feedback..
Perhaps if I have something of value I will get the book in question.. in the mean time I will continue to seek the help o people patient enough to view and offer constructive feedback.. the book suggestion has been noted and placed on a list of things needed to be more efficient with any and all current and future findings.

No offense but you did indeed ask if you should get something graded: Quote: Would this be something I should consider getting graded? And the answer is, I'm afraid, no.

Nice set of 20th century type coins you came across . You can look up all those coins in the Red Book as mentioned .

@craqz, first welcome to CCF. Second, with respect to Quote: there are a few that appear flawless.. it actually may be the case that some of these coins that are more well worn than others are actually worth the most. Educating yourself with a RedBook is a really good idea and I personally would take a look at the Morgan dollar first. Of course feel free to post pics of them here for our input too. Finally a couple of recommendations for handling these coins: 1. DDO not clean them. 2. Handle them by the edges or with cotton gloves on or both to avoid adding fingerprints.

Thank you very much. I do enjoy having a coin inches away from a makeshift monocle and tilting the shimmer and following it over the text and cracks.. I am learning that shadows play trucks on you.. especially lower case "s".. I have jewelers glasses that are x20 on the way from wish or something like that.. the book is definitely a great idea.. sadly my focus is getting rent covered and focusing on my blossoming art career.. Instagram is just slow.. I do know that a bunch of $5's,10's, 20's add up quickly and I have a stack of modern mintage.. 40+ Susan B's that are not wide rim.. I know there is something here.. I can just feel it.. I will slowly be posting things knowing g full well they will all be duds but there is hope. Small stack of pre 80's reds, some ikes and Kennedy 1/2's..
I am very grateful for the advice and your time..
Peace, love, and safe travels on spaceship earth

Even if you hit a MS-66 Grade: https://www.PCGS.com/cert/39522836Note the value $45. Probably cost $50 to have it graded. Not worth it to me to spend more for grading than it is worth?
