I know this is Chinese, lead, and heavy, other than that, I'm not sure how old it is. I have searched all over online and can't find much about this particular design. This is why I am posting this as an exonumia piece. I'm also wondering why one side has birds on a branch on a tripod. Also curious if it has any value?

I never seed lead Chinese. Tomorrow I will come back with the translation and meaning. Now for me do not seem to be Chinese. Never seed in 30 years.

I just pinged my Chinese Translator on discord, we'll see what he says if he's awake.

Quoting Him:

Quote:
the smoothest way to say it is that "the place is overflowing with happiness"

Edit: He came back with more

Quote:
by character:
1. related to happiness and joy
2. energy, so combined with the first its gonna mean happiness
3. and 4. related to ocean. Repeated which could mean lots and lots, all, or from sea to sea.
5. means full. maybe combines with 3 and 4 to mean overflowing
6. means place
7. apparently this is too hard to explain. I think I found the character online and it seems related to bright, brightness, splendor, glory etc.

The vernacular is pretty archaic. As for context, it's basically a proverb/saying which would be written for new years for good fortune.

I should mention that I have seen similar trains of letters on various Chinese silver/lead bars on the side with the birds (though it could be a purity/fineness marking). GrapeCollects, that does make me wonder if it was meant to be a new years gift? Silviosi might also shed more light on this. Still thanks so far for helping identify this.

@mrw, I know that you said this was lead, but is there also a chance that it is silver?

Yeah, when I found this at a flea market (in a junk box with other random items) aways back I first wondered if it was silver or if it was silver mixed with lead, but I now lean much more towards lead since it is soft since I accidently dinked one if the corners and it looks like lead to me.
