I believe that in 1997 the mintmark was not punched onto the die. So, I think that leaves MD

RPM's stopped being possible for nickels and cents in 1990, so your coin is not an RPM. The thing on the vertical bar of the D looks like a hit.

Also DDD is affecting the whole obverse. Note the distortion of the fields and the mintmark from extreme die wear.
