This coin is in pretty rough shape, so it's difficult to tell what doubled die this might be.

It's most obvious in the TRUST.

I'm hoping I could have some assistance here.

Between circulation damage, die polishing, coin condition it makes it hard to tell for sure what you have. The '9' tells me it is one if them, but as mentioned it is being hidden because what was there is now, not there.

Hm very true. The TRUST shows clear signs of doubling to my eyes at least, however, that isn't a lot to go on.

Any recommendations as to what I should do? Keep it in a 2x2 for now?

You could, but the darkness of color would make matching die scratches even harder. It is not one of the common ones we see. You would have to check on later die state images, to look for possible markers.

Maybe die 7 but to me its too far destroyed to be worth keeping. The doubling is easiest to on WE but still not sure what die. Your best bet is finding markers but I doubt there will be any in that condition. Up to you on the keeping part.

Here's are the doubled dies that have counter clockwise doubling like yours does and my opinion and reasoning to why I believe it is or isn't the same die.

DDO-002- NOT A MATCH. The spread is stronger on DDO-002. It is clear when looking at the W of WE.
DDO-004- NOT A MATCH. Your coin doesn't have the rim Cuds to the left of LIBERTY and appears to be a later die state (thin letters in IGWT). The rim Cuds wouldn't disappear after they appear. Extremely rare DDO, but still check for die markers and see if you can get rid of the dirt in case it was the reason the letters looked thin.
DDO-005- NOT A MATCH. The spread is stronger on your coin. When looking at the U in trust on your coin and DDO-005 you can see the clear difference.
DDO-007- MOST LIKELY A MATCH. Everything I can see matches well, but I haven't seen any die markers to say 100%. It most likely is though.

Put it in a 2x2 since it is definitely a doubled die. You can try to get rid of the dirt with acetone or xylene.

Thank you Coop and Kloccwork, it's most likely impossible to find the die markers as you have both mentioned, and I agree you might be right about it being DDO-007.

Joshuach2002, thank you very much for analyzing the different doubled dies for that year.

I'll take your advice, put it in a 2x2, label it as "Possible DDO-007," until I have the cleaning components that you've mentioned.
