2007 P Utah Quarter How About A Little Fish With Those Chips?

Algot New Member United States 46 Posts	Posted 01/17/2021 3:12 pm I'm attempting to attribute this 2007 P Washington Utah Quarter using Wexler. It most closely resembles the 2007-P 25¢ UT WDDO-001 with the exception of the identifying mark...the doubling on the earlobe. However, there does appear to be some doubling about 2:00 on the ear/hairline. And the base crack doesn't go al the way to the initials. Also, there does appear to be a crack from the upper back of the engine on the right side lower back. Should I send this in to Wexler for attribution? coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 01/17/2021 4:08 pm I see a normal coin with a die crack on the bust base and a few die chips. Wexler attributes variety coins, not die events. Check his site for varieties for that year/state that is listed: http://doubleddie.com/190911.html Note the listed doubled dies on the ears and on the centers of the reverse. But also note the markers. The markers are die events that may/may not be on the varieties. If they are close to that same die state, then the markers could be there/or not. It matters when the die event happened and when your coin was struck during the dies life. If before, it may not have the die events. If later the event may have disappeared, or become worse as the die ages. Hope this helps. Report this Post to the Staff

So essentially you claim you have a DDO that doesn't have any doubling? IMHO, this coin just resembles a Doubled Die, markers are typically used to differentiate DDs, not determine whether or not it is one. Report this Post to the Staff

The end question was do you think I should send it in for attribution. In essence, I was asking if others see the possible doubling in the hairline by the ear, or does it look like MD to them?
