@brandon, first welcome to CCF. Second, to me that looks like an encrustation, perhaps from environmental exposure rather than a mint error.

There is also some encrustation on the front at about 9 o'clock that has largely been cut off in the pic. This one is a spender for me.

The shiny copper and thickness of the blob is what gets me. Hard to think this is encrustation but you all are the experts! Thanks again!
