Just found this along with many other pretty decent finds in a mixed batch of penny, nickel, and quarter rolls I picked up at the bank a few days ago. Tons of quite good stuff - some of which I've already posted, some of which I haven't gotten to yet. This one is a pretty okay extra thickness DDR.

That's a nice find. I think these ultramodern DDRs are going to be worth collecting as they are quite interesting and more substantial than many of the DDOs.

Thanks Tropical! And that is very interesting - I would love to know a bit more. Why do you consider them more interesting than the extra thickness DDOs? Also, is there a difference between the hubbing process that leads to these coins and the single squeeze hubbing that resulted in the late 90s/early 00s LMC doubled dies? I'm wondering if there's a technical reason why you distinguish "ultramodern DDRs."

Very nice! The modern shield cent varieties are quite nice and collectible. This is an exceptionally strong example, congrats!

There are a lot, and really a lot, of DDRs on the initials of memorial cents. And only a few of them are really interesting, just doubled with usually something else minor going on with some of the other devices. They only really become collectible once there is some strong doubling elsewhere as well. On the shields, the strong doubling is on the initials themselves, and for some is quite strong. And they are more finite, in that you could make a point of collecting them all, unlike say 1964, where there are something like 125 listed DDRs alone.

Good find Sam. I also find these pretty neat. The LSC Reverse DDRs tend to be more rare from what I've seen.
