Hello, error lovers :)

I hope you're finding interesting and perhaps even befuddling errors. I have a couple of different coins with various, or multiple errors - is there a resource I can look into for how to describe these errors? This leads me to ask if there is any way to correlate type/severity of error with valuation. Let me know what, if any, resources I can check out to best understand my gorgeously mangled metal :)

Go to http://www.error-ref.com/ and look around. It's one of the best. As far as value, it's not really severity, but rarity. Let us see what you have when you get the chance!

to CCF. What most newbies call an error turns out to be a variety. The link Yokozuna posted is good for a bunch of info.

The term errors is used as a general term. Just like saying I have a used car. What can someone gather as information with a comment like that. They are various makes of cars. Various condition of cars. Various desirability for them. So please post images of one coin per thread to see what you have. What some call as errors are just coin damage.

Others maybe coin varieties. Others mint errors. Others as die events. So open out eyes with an example you have then we can see what you have.

Wowee, really excited and grateful to see the wealth of information. Thanks for the used car analog, sites, and euphemistic "variety" rather than dysphemistic "error."

Pictures will be forthcoming when I'm a bit more organized and comfortable with formatting. I'm excited to show off some of the zany metals that have escaped the mint :)
