Sort of a neat coin to find while looking through my toned Mercs. Some nice MD as well.

BRW are toned coins considered varieties and discussed here or is there a different forum for them?

@radatat varieties are qualities of the die that affect all coins struck by that die in its lifetime (e.g. doubled dies, repunched mint marks, design varieties, overdates, etc.). Toning takes place after the coin has left the mint, so it is neither a variety nor an error. It would best be described as environmental damage (albeit damage that can sometimes be desirable if attractive).
