SamCoin Pillar of the Community United States 3237 Posts	Posted 01/24/2021 1:32 pm @radatat varieties are qualities of the die that affect all coins struck by that die in its lifetime (e.g. doubled dies, repunched mint marks, design varieties, overdates, etc.). Toning takes place after the coin has left the mint, so it is neither a variety nor an error. It would best be described as environmental damage (albeit damage that can sometimes be desirable if attractive). Report this Post to the Staff
