2020 D Dime. Does Anyone Know What To Call This Error?

Brice0113 New Member United States 23 Posts	Posted 01/29/2021 6:27 pm I found this in a roll from the bank. It is thicker than a penny or a dime. However it is smaller than a dime. this entire coin fits inside of the rim on a normal dime. The edges of it are smooth and not rigid. I'm not sure if it's a dime that is struck on a penny planchet or what happened to it. Does anyone know? How much money would it be worth?Thank you in advance. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 01/29/2021 6:59 pm 1. Note the reeds on the edge are flattened 2. Note the rim on the edge is thicker. 3. Note the width of the coin is reduced. That tells me that the coin had suffered damage to the edge of the coin. So the suggestion of a Dryer Coin is spot on. How does this happen? When we say a Dryer Coin, we are not talking about a home clothes dryer. We are talking a commercial dryer, where the coins can fall 4-5 feet each time the dryer turns.
