to the CCF!

The image is a small date. Make sure the scale is correctly calibrated. If the weight is correct, you'll need to have it confirmed. Start with a Local Coin Shop or coin show in your area. If it's a true copper strike, you'll need to have it certified by a Third Party Grader.

The area around the mint mark looks a little odd to me. Can you provide closeup images?

Interesting! Good luck and keep us updated!

I would like to see the reverse as well as a pic of it on a scale. Yokozuna has given some really sound advice.

Agree with Yokozuna, need a clear closeup of the mint mark in its natural colour. The coin is overweight and want to make sure nothing was added.

Weighs well over tolerance - you didn't happen to get this on ebay from China?

EDIT: "A 1982 copper penny has a tolerance of 0.13 grams — meaning that it could weigh between 2.98 grams and 3.24 grams"

if it is real then you have a great coin, last year one sold for 10,000 dollars, I think there are only 3 or 4 known

I'd sure like to see a sharp close-up of the date area shown in true colors.

I have my doubts.

Has an unusual color for a cent such as that. That could be attributed to environmental damage but all in all, it doesn't look completely right. Actually it kinda looks like it's been cleaned. Did you clean it? Did you find this coin in your change or buy it online?

And as many said, 3.4 grams seems way out of tolerance.

My vote is that it's a fake of some sort.

Agree with the need to see larger, clear, higher resolution photos of both sides. As most of us appreciate, coin photography isn't a snap, so I'm not ready to assert there are issues with the coin's 'color'; plus, we certainly appreciate that copper cents can come in quite a range of hues. Having said all that, I hope we have some strong new images to look at soon.
