whats that stain on the hair?

The grease is at 11.30 on the hair but it's not a shadow. Any staining may be do to the photo. Coin is free of staining.

From what I understand, die grease is petrified and imbedded for good. Please correct me if I am wrong.

What leads you to believe that is die grease? It just looks like a toning spot. Grease does not "petrify" or permanently adhere to any surface, it can always be removed through the use of organic solvents.

I was told it was grease by a locale long established reputable dealer, who had it in hand. I tried soaking it in acetone for some time with no results.
