Awhile back I acquired an 1861 penny that appears to be an "L.C. Wylon on truncation; L.C.W. below shield variety" (Sorry that it is hard to see this in my scans). My question relates to the quality of the strike of coins of this year. The bust of Victoria seems very nice and with all the hairlines quite sharp, but on the head of Britannia seems very flat. So were flat strikes common on just one side of these coins or is it possible that one side somehow became more worn than the other? If this is the case, what kind of grade would you assign my coin? Thanks!
