I have 2 california 1/2 dollar gold fractionals dated 1852 and 1853. 1853 is round with woman head on one side and bear on other. 1852 is octagonal with indian head on one side and what looks to be a bear on the other. I also have a 1976 1 ounce Krugerrand my grandfather had mounted in a bezel.

Sadly having a bear on a gold coin means it's a fake. They are still collectible though but I don't think they have any gold content in them.

Got pics?

As for the Kruggerand, you can always put it on ebay or check for buyers on craigslist

Mike Locke's website is a great source for these Cal. Gold tokens. Try browsing around a bit, he has authentic ones and fake ones all over the site.
