I grabbed this box of dimes from the bank today and I'm on the fence about cracking them open or leaving them rolled. The only issue I'm having is I am not sure if these are RCM rolled, or third party rolled (brinks, banks, etc). I'm used to seeing OBW rolls in the paper rolls when I buy them online. I have seen some Canadian small cents in plastic rolls before but never really thought much of it because I knew getting OBW or RCM rolled coins in my area is extremely rare to the point that even the teller was shocked when I opened it. Her exact words were "wow, we don't see this every day" but my mind was acting like a kid in a candy store so I was barely paying attention to much after that and didn't bother to ask why she said what she said. So next question is, what kind of goodies should I keep an eye out for error wise AND should I open them? $50.00 worth was removed from the box before this photo was taken, there were some years in there that I'm keeping regardless so I put them away. I think the plastic ones are brinks, I had a similar question a few years ago about loonies and that seemed to be common answer.

I Think, these are the aftermath of the ARP (Alloy Recovery Program) Only reason I say that, is because I'm not finding anything other than the newer effigy. Farthest year back I've found so far is 2001.

Yes the 5 major banks are paid by the RCM to arp coins, you might get lucky a customer could by mistake roll older coins

I've never had circulated coins in the plastic wrap, only uncirculated coins. I still have a roll of 2008 olympic loons and some 2013 nickels. Have had other uncirculated coins in plastic, always same date in roll.

I am even more confused now, not only are they NOT solid dates, I have found three, 5 New Pence coins which to my understanding are copper and nickel.

So I"m told that in the Ontario region, all the coins order by a branch will come from the basement of big 5 banks in or around King St, some credit unions are partners with the major banks. If the branch has enough coins to recycle in branch, they could go for months without ordering coins due to large cost of transport, my guess is some of these rolls that you received is customer own rolled units. The RCM original rolls comes in a special RCM box with date code and money amounts
